MASTER SCUBA DIVER
TRAINER
If you have completed your IDC and are a certified Open Water Scuba Instructor, the next step on your PADI Go PRO path is the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating. The MSDT prep course will qualify you to teach five new PADI specialties and set you apart as a dive instructor who takes continuing education seriously. Being an MSDT signifies you have the experience and knowledge to offer all the training a diver needs to become a Master Scuba Diver – the ultimate recreational diver rating.
The MSDT Preparation Program is a package of five specialty instructor training courses. The course can be taken right after the IDC training and Instructor Exams. Once you have received your specialty teaching status, you will be able to teach those specialties alongside the standard PADI courses.
If you have your eyes set on long-term professional PADI instructor goals, this course is a pre-requisite for IDC Staff Instructor training as well as for many TecRec Instructor ratings.

Wreck Specialty Instructor
We have several shipwrecks here in Roatan (Aguila, Odyssey, Prince Albert, Mr. Bud), and these are perfect for training dives during this course. Most of the wrecks in Roatan are excellent sites for learning how to teach students proper wreck diving techniques, as we have shallow and small wrecks, as well as deep and large wrecks. The huge diversity of wrecks offer lots of possibilities for penetration dives with dive lights and complex line/reel use. You will be able to practice all of the diver level skills in different wrecks and different conditions.
Equipment Specialty Instructor
This is a great opportunity for you to stand out from the crowd as an Instructor. Our training is conducted by dive gear technicians. We will show you how to basic-service and maintain the most popular regulators and BCD inflator systems. If you have your own set of gear you can bring it to the training course and learn how to properly service, maintain and store your own gear. There are few places in the Caribbean that offer this program and workshop, so it’s a great one to take advantage of!
Enriched Air Specialty Instructor
A must for all instructors. 60% of all divers dive with Nitrox and this is the most popular of all PADI Specialities worldwide. During your MSDT preparation course you will dive different blends of Nitrox, and they can be combined with other specialities as well, to give you extra bottom time during wreck penetration, for example.
DSAT Gas Blender Instructor
Whilst not a widely popular course, this is a great opportunity to learn how to carry out routine tank maintenance as well as understand how to blend and fill Nitrox tanks. This is a very practical course and during the training you will get to blend and fill your own tanks and use a compressor. As a Gas Blender Instructor, you will be able to teach tank fillers who need to also fill Nitrox tanks, and being familiar with tank maintenance and compressor use can earn you extra bonus points when looking for work in the industry.
Deep Specialty Instructor
Another very popular PADI Speciality course, but one which can bring plenty of challenges for an Instructor. During your training you will become familiar with the various skills and standards of the course and how to set up, manage and safely control the dives while making sure your students have fun, while staying safe.
Sidemount Specialty Instructor
Freedom, versitility, safety and comfort are the main advantages of diving sidemount. PADI is heavily promoting this Speciality amongst recreational divers and it seems that everyone wants to try it. As an Instructor, you will definitely want to be able to offer this speciality to your students.
